she/they
I am a writer and human geographer. I write about the weird and wonderful range of human experience in the digital age. Of particular focus of mine are tech’s impact on marginalized communities, disability and technology, and techno-optimism. I hold a PhD in geography from the University of California, Berkeley.
My work has been featured in The Baffler, Wired, n+ 1, The Drift, IEEE Spectrum, Rest of World, Wirecutter, and elsewhere. My essay, Incubated Futures, is featured in Houghton Mifflin’s Best American Food Writing 2021. My article on prosthetic arms in Input has been featured on Digg Editions, Anne Friedman Weekly, and Longreads and was adapted for an episode of 99% Invisible. I have also been honored by the SABEW and Neals Awards.
I am working on a book about techno-optimism, the pitfalls of “human-centered design,” prosthetics, and the future of the human body.
I am represented by Caroline Eisenmann at Francis Goldin Literary Agency.
